Daryush Ila, a 10-year tech transfer veteran at FSU, will assume the vice-president for innovation and research role at UWG.

Daryush Ila, associate vice-chancellor for research and technology transfer at Fayetteville State University (FSU), has been appointed vice-president for innovation and research at University of West Georgia (UWG).

Ila has held the FSU position concurrently with associate vice-chancellor for research, chief research officer and tech transfer officer roles since 2011.

He is set to take up his new job today, July 12, which will entail him helping UWG strengthen its efforts in research and scholarship. He will join forces with the institution’s faculty, staff and administration to foster creativity, boost external funding and liaise with graduate and honours programmes on sponsored research projects.

Jon Preston, provost and senior vice-president for academic affairs at UWG, said: “As a proven leader who has advanced the areas he has overseen, we are eager for his thought-partnership and expertise as we remain committed to the curation of a first-choice university for all our stakeholders.”
