Tal Heppenstall will stand down as president of UPMC Enterprises to be replaced by Jeanne Cunicelli, promoted from executive vice-president.

Jeanne Cunicelli (pictured) has been promoted from executive vice-president to president at UPMC Enterprises, the commercialisation arm of University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC).
Cunicelli has also been appointed as an executive vice-president at UPMC. She assumes both roles following the departure of Tal Heppenstall, who is also resigning as UPMC’s treasurer.
Heppenstall joined the medical centre in 2003 following a four-year spell as managing director at RBC Capital Markets, an investment banking subsidiary of financial services firm Royal Bank of Canada.
While at UPMC, Heppenstall has been responsible for taking care of $7.3bn in investments and cash deposits, as well as its pension portfolio and debt such as municipal bonds.
His leadership of UPMC Enterprises has centred on commercialising the centre’s healthcare and managerial resources, in particular monetising IT-related applications.
