Already backed by Stanford University, autonomous helicopter technology business Skyryse has now obtained $38m altogether.

Skyryse, a US-based autonomous helicopter piloting technology developer backed by Stanford University, has obtained $13m in a round involving Fontinalis and private investor Bill Ford, VentureBeat has reported. Founded in 2016, Skyryse has created a sensor-driven technology dubbed Flight Stack that can be applied to helipads and helicopters to facilitate autonomous flight operations. The platform automatically calibrates the helicopter’s initial ascent and can be installed within the circuits of some existing vehicles. Skyryse also hopes to adapt the concept for automated vertical takeoff and landing applications. The company has now raised $38m in all, according to VentureBeat, including $25m of seed and series A capital disclosed in August 2018 led by Venrock with participation from Stanford University, Eclipse, Industry Ventures, Trucks VC, Cantos and Engage Ventures. SkyRyse also disclosed $20,000 of a $3m round made up of equity, option and other securities in 2016, according to a regulatory filing.
