Erganeo is the new moniker for regional tech transfer office Satt IDF Innov, which has invested $30.5m over the past seven years and is adopting an increasingly deep tech-led focus.

Satt IDF Innov, one of the 14 France-based regional tech transfer offices that make up the Satt Network, officially rebranded as Erganeo today with a stated mission to drive deep technologies with potentially enduring societal impact. Erganeo’s primary goal is to unlock intellectual property with commercial potential by solidifying the ties between academic researchers and industry, drawing upon the Satt Network’s pool of 20,000 researchers from more than 370 advanced research laboratories. Since its founding in 2012, the office has invested more than $30.3m and spawned 14 spinouts altogether, in addition to inking 67 licence agreements with existing businesses. Erganeo plans to adopt a focus on a range of deep tech domains, including biotech as well as the internet-of-things in the IT space and energy-related applications such as new energy sources, chemicals and materials. France has been doubling down on deep tech with a number of tech transfer and venture-led initiatives. These include the Université PSL-aligned PSL Innovation Fund, which reached a $72.3m intermediary close last month, and a deep tech-oriented talent recruitment drive announced by regional TTOs Satt Conectus, Satt Nord and Satt Sayens on Tuesday.
