Katrin Salchert, previously vice-president for knowledge and tech transfer at BTU Cottbus, has been appointed rector of HTW Dresden.

Katrin Salchert has left Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus – Senftenberg (BTU Cottbus) to become rector of Dresden University of Applied Sciences (HTW Dresden).
Salchert started her new role on April 1 having resigned as BTU Cottbus’s vice-president for knowledge and tech transfer in February 2020. She had been selected for the role in December 2019.
She will serve for a five-year term, following her predecessor as rector, Roland Stenzel, whose appointment ended last month.
Salchert is expected to enhance HTW Dresden’s reputation as an innovation and digital-focused research hub. She will look to extend the university’s tech transfer framework, strengthening its links to academic courses and both regional and international partnerships.
Salchert joined Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg, then called Lausitz University of Applied Sciences, in 2006.
She earned her PhD in biochemistry from University of Leipzig ten years previously, having already studied chemistry at the same institution.
