DePaul University's director for corporate education programs is set to depart to lead University of Chicago's Polsky Center from September.

Dan Sachs, former director for corporate education programs at DePaul University, has been named as executive director of University of Chicago (UChicago)’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
Sachs will start the role on September 1 to lead a team tasked with building the commercialisation hub’s education and programming services.
His duties will also include forging ties with stakeholders from across UChicago’s academic faculty, in addition to external partners locally, nationally and globally.
Sachs joins the university having been with DePaul University since mid-2015 and having also taught management and entrepreneurship in the rank of professor.
He has also served president of hospitality and leadership development advisory group Meerkat Advisory since early 2015.
Sachs earned a DBA degree with distinction from DePaul in 2020 after receiving a bachelor’s in government from Harvard University in 1987.
He started his career as the owner of the greater Chicago branch of a wine-focused restaurant chain called BIN 36.
Jay Schrankler, associate vice-president and head of Polsky Center, said: “Dan’s appointment comes at an exciting time as we have outlined a bold strategy for the Polsky Center.
“At its core, Polsky is a service and educational organization with many key customers and stakeholders. Thus, we are looking forward to leveraging Dan’s far-reaching experience and applying it here at the Polsky Center.”
