Seasoned tech transfer professional Sean Reeder will become Eastern Illinois University's chief financial officer and vice-president for business affairs.

Eastern Illinois University (EIU) on Wednesday selected Sean Reeder as its next chief financial officer and vice-president for business affairs, gaining the expertise of his 15-year record in academia and tech transfer.
Reeder will begin in the position on June 15.  His role sits within EIU’s Business Office and includes managing the university’s annual allocation of government funding in addition to oversight of areas such as research, institutional planning and human resources.
Reeder found his path into the academic sector during a spell at real estate developer Fox Development from 2002 until 2005. As vice-president of development and leasing, he oversaw Fox’s venture capital and private equity investment as well as real estate management, including development of what became University of Illinois’s Research Park.
Reeder moved to University of Illinois full-time in 2005 as a senior technology manager its Office of Technology Management, staying in the role for three years before departing to become associate director at Michigan State University Technologies, the TTO of Michigan State University.
He returned to the University of Illinois System in 2008 and has stayed for more than a decade in a series of roles, most recently  as assistant vice-president for capital and utilities administration since 2016.
Reeder collected his bachelor’s degree and MBA from the same institution in 1998 and 2002 respectively and is now on course for a PhD in higher education policy, organisation and leadership to be awarded in May 2021.
