Scott Henderson has become Purdue Research Foundation’s chief entrepreneurial officer to guide through ecosystems at Purdue projects such as the Discovery Park research district.

Purdue Research Foundation, the tech transfer affiliate of Purdue University, yesterday unveiled Scott Henderson (pictured) as its new chief entrepreneurial officer.
He will join the foundation on January 7 to succeed Dan Hasler, who has been appointed as Purdue University’s executive vice-president for communication.
Henderson’s role at the foundation includes oversight of the Purdue Foundry accelerator initiative and startup funding hub Purdue Ventures, as well as contacts with the Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) and Purdue University itself.
Henderson previously founded Sandbox Communities, a consultancy which aims to build successful social environments for research and innovation parks.
He also helped start entrepreneurship publication Hypepotamus and once worked for Startup America Partnership, a public-private partnership aimed at accelerating high-growth entrepreneurship across the US.
Henderson will look to play a similar role at Purdue, driving entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystems for projects such as the 40-acre Discovery Park research district, which, once completed, will host Purdue Foundry, Purdue Ventures and OTC.
New facilities under construction at Discovery Park include a hub for electric power research, an $86m residential apartment development and project centrepiece Convergence Center for Innovation and Collaboration.
Henderson said: “Purdue is known worldwide for its innovations and innovative results. I am excited to join this community and look forward to bringing people together at Purdue’s Discovery Park district and beyond.”
