HTGF has participated in a seed round for Kumovis, a spinout of Technical University of Munich that is working on 3D printers for medical technology.

Kumovis, a Germany-based 3D printing technology spinout of Technical University of Munich, has raised a seven-figure seed round backed by public-private partnership High-Tech Gründerfonds.
An unnamed family office has also participated in the seed round.
Founded in October 2017, Kumovis is developing 3D printers that can be used to manufacture medical products, such as personalised implants. It uses high-performance polymers – such as Peek and PPSU – that have already been approved for medical applications.
The spinout is commercialising research from the Institute of Medical and Polymer Engineering. Kumovis previously won the Munich Business Plan Competition by public-private partnership BayStartUp.
The seed round will support a market launch of Kumovis’ printers.
Carsten Rudolph, managing director of BayStartUp, said: “Kumovis offers a very good combination of digitalisation and medical technology. Over all three phases in the Munich business plan competition in 2018 we observed a strong and growing team, developing their company systematically.”
