University of Bristol-backed incubator Engine Shed has hired Marty Reid as its new head, with Reid also taking over as chief executive of SetSquared Bristol's parent Science Research Foundation.

Marty Reid (pictured) will head up University of Bristol-backed incubator Engine Shed from January 2020 after standing down from an innovation program hosted by the neighbouring University of the West of England (UWE).
Reid joins Engine Shed from UWE’s Future Space, where he has presided as centre director since November 2018 over approximately 50 science and technology businesses.
He succeeds Nick Sturge, who has led Engine Shed since its launch in 2013 and is credited with guiding its success with projects that drive long-term sustainable growth in Bristol’s innovation ecosystem.
Reid has also been appointed CEO of Science Research Foundation, the University of Bristol unit responsible for both Engine Shed and SetSquared Bristol, part of multi-university incubation program SetSquared.
