Judith Cone, vice-chancellor for innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development at University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill, will retire next month. Cone has been with the institution for 11 years and had let the leadership know her intention to step down last year. Michelle Bolas, associate vice-chancellor, will take on additional duties currently within Cone’s remit while the university launches a search for a permanent successor. Cone also served as interim director of Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise at Kenan-Flagler Business School from 2013 to 2015, when she promoted to her current position. Her responsibilities included leading the Office of Technology Commercialisation.
