Venture capital and private equity dealmaking veteran David Almodovar has joined University of Pittsburgh as managing director of investments.

University of Pittsburgh appointed David Almodovar as its managing director of investments earlier this month, according to LinkedIn.
Almodovar joins the university after 15 years as principal at investment and advisory firm GCM Grosvenor leading up venture capital and growth equity deals and taking responsibility for a portfolio containing more than 170 funds.
Earlier in his career, Almodovar was an investment officer at state retirement fund Washington State Investment Board from 1994 until 1998.
He had previously served the US Army as a sergeant across tours in the US, Korea and Saudi Arabia between 1985 and 1991.
Almodovar’s academic accomplishments include an MBA from Saint Martin’s University awarded in 1998 and a bachelor of arts in business and related fields from University of Washington in 1995.
